Alabama lands 4-star QB Kingston Preyear, vaults to No. 1 in 2028 class

Alabama has secured a commitment from four-star quarterback Kingston Preyear, an elite in-state prospect in the 2028 recruiting class, the program announced. The pledge pushed the Crimson Tide to the top of the national 2028 recruiting rankings.

Preyear attends Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City and is ranked as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2028 class. He is described as the nation's top-ranked pocket passer and chose Alabama over Florida, among other SEC rivals.

A Lifelong Fan Comes Home

For Preyear, a lifelong Alabama fan, the commitment fulfilled a long-held personal goal. When the Crimson Tide extended an offer, it carried particular weight for the prospect, who had grown up rooting for the program. Head coach Kalen DeBoer's track record of elite quarterback development was cited as a key factor in the decision.

Preyear is the second quarterback commitment Alabama has added to its 2028 class. He is also a high school teammate of Cederian Morgan, who previously committed to the Crimson Tide, adding a notable recruiting connection to the pledge.

Some outlets reported Alabama's 2028 class sitting at No. 2 nationally immediately following the commitment, while others pegged the Tide at No. 1. Either way, Preyear's addition represents a significant boost to DeBoer's long-range roster-building efforts, with the class still more than two years from signing day.
